Ruckus over $500 billion ‘Stargate’ project, Elon Musk targets Sam Altman, says ‘They don’t have money…’

January 23, 2025

New Delhi: Donald Trump has announced the Stargate Project as soon as he took office as US President for the second time. Sam Altman, chairman of Chat GPT maker OpenAI, claimed that this plan of $500 billion (about Rs 43 lakh crore) in the Artificial Intelligence (AI) sector in the US in the next four years will not only strengthen the possibilities of AI in the US, but will also create about 100,000 jobs and strengthen national security. But the world’s richest man Elon Musk has targeted this project and said that the companies associated with it do not have that much money, while the CEO of OpenAI has also hit back at Musk.

Partnership of three companies in ‘Stargate’
First of all, let us tell you what this Stargate Project is? This Stargate Project has been announced in partnership with three big US companies Oracle, Softbank and Open AI. The aim of this AI company is to create artificial intelligence infrastructure in America and a huge amount of about 43 lakh crore rupees is to be spent on it according to Indian rupees. It is believed that this will be the biggest project in the IT sector so far. This project includes setting up data centers, building electricity production units, which is necessary to strengthen the rapidly developing AI scenario. According to OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, the initial investment in this project will be $ 100 billion, which can be increased to $ 500 billion.

Elon Musk criticized it like this
While Donald Trump included this Stargate Project in the first announcements made after taking oath, Elon Musk has criticized it in a different way. The world’s richest man has said about this $ 500 billion project that this project supported by companies like OpenAI, Softbank and Oracle does not have enough money to move forward. He has taunted that SoftBank has raised less than $10 billion so far, while it needs $100 billion just to start.

Sam Altman hits back
When Elon Musk raised questions about this Stargate project, OpenAI CEO Altman immediately replied to his comment, calling Elon Musk’s claims completely wrong and suggested that Musk should put the country’s interests ahead of his own interests. He wrote in response to Elon Musk’s post, ‘I know what is good for the country may not always be better for your companies, but I hope that in your new role, you will mostly put America first.’

Elon Musk is the co-founder of OpenAI
It is worth noting that Elon Musk himself is the co-founder of OpenAI, but after its launch, he stepped away from it in the year 2018 after a clash with Sam Altman over the direction of the company. Since then, Musk has been seen criticizing OpenAI, but the special thing is that the Stargate Project is an important part of US President Donald Trump’s economic plans and despite this, Musk is seen criticizing it.
