New Delhi: BJP MP Nishikant Dubey has reacted to Sanjay Raut’s statement in which he blamed Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde for the Thackeray brothers’ defeat in the BMC elections. In fact, the Bharatiya Janata Party has achieved a resounding victory in the BMC elections, considered a stronghold of the Thackeray family. The BJP has emerged as the single largest party in the BMC elections. The BJP and the Shinde faction have won 118 seats, which is 4 more than the majority mark.
‘If Shinde hadn’t become a Jaychand…’
Meanwhile, reacting to the BMC election results, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut targeted Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Mahayuti ally Eknath Shinde. He said on Friday that if Eknath Shinde had not become the Jaychand of Shiv Sena, the BJP would never have had a mayor in Mumbai! He said that the Marathi people will remember Shinde as Jaychand. Raut’s post also tagged CM Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy CM Shinde.
What Nishikant Dubey said
Responding to Raut’s statement, BJP leader Nishikant Dubey reacted. He wrote on X, “Sanjay Raut is a combination of Narada Muni and Manthara.”
What is the controversy?
It should be noted that this dispute between Sanjay Raut and Eknath Shinde is related to 2022, when Eknath Shinde rebelled against the Shiv Sena led by Uddhav Thackeray and formed a government in alliance with the BJP. The Uddhav faction termed Shinde’s formation of a government with the BJP as betrayal, and the term Jaychand is used in a historical context, where he is remembered as a traitor who joined hands with Muhammad Ghori against Prithviraj Chauhan.
BJP won 89 seats
It should be noted that the election results for all 227 wards of Mumbai have been declared around midnight. The BJP won 89 seats and its ally Shiv Sena won 29 seats, while the Shiv Sena (Uddhav faction) got 65 seats and the MNS got six seats. Meanwhile, the Congress party, which contested the elections in an alliance with the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi, secured 24 seats, AIMIM got 8, NCP 3, Samajwadi Party 2, and another NCP faction had to be content with just one seat.
