Additionally, he laid the foundation stone for the Adani Defence and Aerospace Manufacturing Plant—an investment of ₹2,500 crore—which is being touted as the largest private-sector defense and aerospace manufacturing facility in South Asia. The Chief Minister inaugurated the event by lighting a ceremonial lamp.
Union Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region, Jyotiraditya Scindia, was also present as a special guest on the occasion. Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister noted that Shivpuri is rapidly advancing towards industrial and economic growth. He stated that the establishment of the Adani defense plant would attract large-scale investment to the region, create new employment opportunities, and position Madhya Pradesh among the country’s leading states in the defense production sector.
Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh, is now set to join the ranks of the nation’s major defense production hubs. The foundation stone for the Adani Group’s defense factory—valued at approximately ₹2,500 crore—was laid near National Highway-27 in Pali village. This mega-project will manufacture ammunition, state-of-the-art weapons, mission-ready missiles, and high-tech defense equipment. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, and Adani Group Directors Karan Adani and Jeet Adani attended the foundation-laying ceremony. Prior to the main event, the guests viewed an exhibition showcasing modern weaponry and defense equipment.
During the program, the Chief Minister also inaugurated and laid foundation stones for development projects across various departments, with a total value exceeding ₹211 crore. He emphasized that the state government is continuously working to strengthen infrastructure, promote industries, and expand employment opportunities. The defense and aerospace plant to be established in Shivpuri will prove to be a significant milestone in the state’s industrial development.
New initiatives for Shivpuri
The Chief Minister stated that the establishment of the defense plant would generate direct and indirect employment for approximately 5,000 people. He noted that major investments, such as the cement plant in Guna and the defense industry in Shivpuri, would transform the entire Gwalior-Chambal region into a new hub of industrial development. The Chief Minister also made several new announcements for Shivpuri. He stated that a 14-kilometer four-lane road would be constructed at a cost of ₹120 crore to connect Shivpuri to the national highway. A cardiology unit will be started at the medical college. A new college offering Arts, Commerce, and Science streams will be opened in Khod. Subhashpura will be designated as a new *Tehsil* (administrative block), and a Primary Health Centre will be established in Pichhore.
Shivpuri to become a tourism hub
Additionally, the CM announced the construction of a new road connecting the Kareera-Bhitarwar route to Samoha Dam. An agricultural produce market (*mandi*) will be established in Khaniyadhana, and a Sandipani School will be opened in Khataura Gram Panchayat. A 200-bed Maternal and Child Health Hospital will be built in Shivpuri, and the town will be developed into a major tourism hub.
Major boost for employment and MSMEs
The proposed defense plant is expected to generate a large number of direct and indirect employment opportunities in Shivpuri and surrounding areas. Along with providing jobs to local youth, this initiative will offer Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) the opportunity to integrate into the defense production supply chain. This will boost industrial activity in the region and strengthen the local economy.
Investment of ₹1.10 lakh crore in MP
Adani Group Director Jeet Adani announced that the group would invest ₹1.10 lakh crore in Madhya Pradesh. This investment will be directed towards sectors such as pumped hydro storage, cement, mining, logistics, and thermal energy. He stated that the goal is to generate approximately 120,000 jobs in Madhya Pradesh by 2030, and this defense factory in Shivpuri represents a significant step in that direction.
Contribution of Local Youth’s Skills to National Defense
Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia remarked that in the future, whenever the nation’s security is discussed, Shivpuri will be recognized as a hub for defense production. He noted that the weapons and ammunition manufactured here would bolster the strength of the Indian Army, and the skills of local youth would contribute directly to the country’s defense.
Generating around 10,000 direct and indirect jobs, this defense factory is considered a milestone for the industrial development of not just Shivpuri, but the entire state of Madhya Pradesh. Beyond strengthening the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ (Self-Reliant India) objective in defense production, this project is set to establish a new identity for Shivpuri on the nation’s defense manufacturing map.
