Tensions in the Middle East: Abu Dhabi’s Hindu temple will remain closed until March 9th, inaugurated by PM Modi two years ago.

New Delhi: In light of the war in the Middle East, the BAPS Temple in Abu Dhabi will be closed to visitors from Monday, March 9th. The BAPS Hindu Temple issued a statement, saying, “In view of the current situation and national security, as a precautionary measure, the BAPS Hindu Temple in Abu Dhabi will remain closed to visitors until Monday, March 9th. During this time, the Swami will continue to pray at the temple for the peace, safety, and well-being of all.”

Iran Targeting US Military Bases in Gulf Countries
Rising tensions between Iran and the United States have led to attacks on Abu Dhabi and Dubai airports. Following Khamenei’s death, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard has been targeting US military bases in Gulf countries. Gulf countries have closed their airspace due to the ongoing attacks. Arab countries, including the UAE and Saudi Arabia, have vowed to retaliate against the ongoing attacks by Iran.

    According to information provided by the United Arab Emirates, an Indian citizen was among the 58 people slightly injured in Iranian military attacks. The Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi said on Sunday (March 1, 2026) that it was aware of the Indian citizen’s injuries and was in contact with hospital authorities. The UAE Ministry of Defense stated that since the beginning of the Iranian offensive, its military has faced 165 ballistic missiles, two cruise missiles, and 541 drone attacks.

    Prior to inauguration by PM Modi two years ago
    The BAPS Hindu Temple in Abu Dhabi is built on 27 acres (11 hectares) of land. Its construction was announced during PM Modi’s visit to the UAE in 2018. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the BAPS Hindu Temple on February 14, 2024.
