This is Modi’s war, American diplomat connects Russia-Ukraine war with India, know the condition for reducing tariff

New Delhi. American diplomat and President Trump’s advisor Peter Navarro has made a shocking statement about the recent oil deal between India and Russia. He alleged that India’s purchase of discounted Russian oil has encouraged Russia’s aggression and put a heavy burden on American taxpayers.

Not only this, Navarro called the Russia-Ukraine conflict ‘Modi’s war’ and warned that if India continues this policy, it will be necessary for America to take a tough stand on it. He also said that if India stops buying Russian oil, then 25% relief can be obtained in American tariff.

While giving an interview in Bloomberg TV’s show Balance of Power, Navarro said that India is not untouched and the path to peace partially passes through India. Navarro’s statement comes at a time when President Donald Trump on Wednesday imposed a 50% tariff on goods coming from India, which has been imposed to stop India’s purchase of Russian crude oil despite Western pressure.

India can get relief in 25% tariff: Navarro
When asked whether the US is in talks with India and whether tariffs can be adjusted, Navarro said, “It is very simple. If India stops buying Russian oil, it can get a 25% discount tomorrow. I am surprised. Modi is a great leader. This (India) is a mature democracy, it is run by mature people.” Navarro expressed displeasure over India’s tariff policy and said, “What bothers me is that Indians are so arrogant. They say we don’t have high tariffs. This is our sovereignty. We can buy oil from anybody.'”

Accused of supporting Russia’s war
Navarro said India is funding Russian war efforts by buying oil from Russia at a discount. Russia uses that money to fund its war machine and more Ukrainians are killed. Everyone in the US is harmed because of this. The effects are felt in the US economy as well.

He said consumers, businesses, and workers are all harmed because India’s high tariffs force us to lose jobs, factories, incomes and higher salaries. And then taxpayers also suffer because we have to fund Modi’s war.

Navarro said, “I say Modi’s war because the road to peace partly passes through India.”

A similar statement was made last week
It is worth noting that last week too Navarro had accused India of profiteering in refinery and called it a ‘laundromat’ (self-service laundry) for Russian oil. He had said, “India uses the same money that we get by selling goods, and invests it in buying Russian oil. Then the refiners make profits there. But Russia uses that money to make more weapons and kill Ukrainians, and American taxpayers have to give more aid and military help. This is madness.”
