US: Kash Patel took oath as FBI director with his hand on Bhagavad Gita

Washington. Kash Patel, an Indian-origin and Donald Trump loyalist, took oath as the director of the US Federal Investigation Agency (FBI) on Saturday. During this, he took charge of the post by placing his hand on the Gita. Patel has become the ninth person to lead the FBI.

The swearing-in ceremony was held at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building of the White House complex in Washington DC. US Attorney General Pam Bondi administered the oath of office to him.

US President Donald Trump praised the appointment of Kash Patel and cited his popularity among FBI agents as the reason for this. Trump said that I like Kash Patel and wanted to appoint him to this post because the agents of the agency respect him. He said that he will prove to be the best person ever on this post. His appointment was very easy. He is strong and has strong ideas. Trey Gowdy also praised him and said that people do not understand the ability of Kash Patel.

Approved by 51-49 in the Senate
Kash Patel’s appointment was approved by the US Senate by a margin of 51-49 votes. However, two Republican senators – Susan Collins (Maine) and Lisa Murkowski (Alaska) voted against him along with the Democrats.

Democrats expressed this concern
Kash Patel has previously been an anti-terrorism prosecutor and Chief of Staff to the Secretary of Defense, he has been criticizing the FBI. Democrats have expressed concern about his appointment that the autonomy of the agency may be affected under his leadership. Kash Patel has replaced Christopher Ray, who was appointed by Trump in 2017, but later had differences with him and resigned.
