
New Delhi: The campaign of intensive revision and verification of the voter list being conducted by the Election Commission in Bihar is now nearing its final stage. This process started on June 24 and now 11 days are left and out of 7 crore 90 lakh voters, 6 crore 60 lakh 67 thousand 208 voters have submitted their counting forms. This figure reaches about 88 percent of the total voters. In the exercise so far, it is believed that the names of more than 35 lakh 69 thousand voters will be deleted from the voter list.
So far, more than 5 crore 74 lakh forms have been uploaded on the Election Commission’s website. After two rounds of door-to-door survey, so far 1.59 percent of the voters were found dead, 2.2% have permanently changed their place of residence and 0.73% people were found registered at more than one place. This figure reaches 4.52 percent. In terms of numbers, the number of such voters reaches more than 35 lakh 69 thousand.
According to the information received from the Election Commission, now only 11.82% voters are left, who have not yet submitted their filled counting forms. The Commission says that no stone is being left unturned to ensure that no eligible voter is left out. About one lakh BLOs will soon start the work of door-to-door survey in the third round. 1 lakh 50 thousand BLAs of political parties are also fully cooperating in this work.
Special camps are being set up in 5683 wards of all 261 urban local bodies of Bihar. Awareness campaigns are also being run for voters who have temporarily gone out of the state, so that they can also submit their counting forms on time. The draft of the voter list is to be published on August 1.
