Air India plane caught fire during landing, flight was coming from Hong Kong

New Delhi: An incident of fire in Air India plane has come to light. This fire in the plane has occurred during landing at Delhi airport. As soon as the Air India plane landed at Delhi airport from Hong Kong, the Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) of the Air India plane caught fire. All passengers and crew are completely safe.

More information in this matter has been given by Air India. An Air India spokesperson said that on Tuesday, flight number AI 315, flying from Hong Kong to Delhi, caught fire in the Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) immediately after landing and parking at the gate. The incident happened when the passengers started disembarking. As soon as the fire broke out, the APU automatically shut down as per the system design.

Along with this, Air India said that the plane has suffered some damage due to the fire. However, the passengers and crew members disembarked normally and are safe. The plane has been stopped for further investigation and the regulator has been informed about the fire.

Let us tell you that in flight, APU i.e. Auxiliary Power Unit is a small gas turbine engine, which is usually located in the tail of the aircraft. Its main function is to provide electricity and other necessary power without the main engines and external power sources of the flight.
