
New Delhi: The Indian team has been announced for the upcoming two-match Test series against South Africa. Rishabh Pant has returned to the team, while fast bowler Akash Deep is also making his comeback after injury. Pant has been appointed vice-captain, while Shubman Gill will lead the team. The Test series between India and South Africa begins on November 14.
The team consists mostly of the same players who were part of the series against the West Indies. Karun Nair has once again been overlooked. He has recently shown excellent form in the Ranji Trophy. Meanwhile, Yashasvi and Rahul will once again be responsible for opening the innings for the team. Sudarshan will play at number three. Sudarshan could be at number three, and either Devdutt Padikkal or Dhruv Jurel could be at number four.
The team has four spinners in Axar, Kuldeep, Sundar, and Jadeja, while Bumrah, Siraj, and Akash are the three pacers. Nitish is in the team as a pace bowling all-rounder. The first Test between India and South Africa will be played at Eden Gardens in Kolkata from November 14, while the second Test will be played in Guwahati from November 22. Following this, the two teams will play a three-match ODI series from November 30 to December 6, followed by a five-match T20 series from December 9 to 19.
India A Team Also Announced
In addition, the selection committee also announced the India A team for the three-match ODI series against South Africa A. Tilak Verma will captain the team, while Ruturaj Gaikwad will be the vice-captain. These three matches will be played on November 13, 16, and 19.
