Mamta Kulkarni Resigns from Mahamandaleshwar Post of Kinnar Akhara

New Delhi: Mamta Kulkarni has resigned from the Mahamandaleshwar post of the Kinnar Akhara. Last year, during the Mahakumbh, the Kinnar Akhara had bestowed upon her the title of Mahamandaleshwar and given her the name Shri Yamai Mamta Nand Giri. Mamta Kulkarni had said that wearing saffron robes does not mean being an agent of the BJP or anyone else. She had also said that she would soon take off the saffron robes.

In her letter, she wrote, “I, Mamta Mukund Kulkarni, am in a perfectly sound mental state. I am resigning from the Mahamandaleshwar post of the Kinnar Akhara on January 27, 2026. No complaints against Dr. Acharya Lakshmi Narayan Tripathi, full love and respect for him. The only thing is that my spiritual knowledge will flow like J. Krishnamurti’s. Truth does not need clothes or idols.”

She further said, “My guru Shri Chaitanya Gagangiri Nath did not accept any position. I have lived a spiritual life for 25 years. I will continue my practice as before, remaining introverted. Whenever needed, I will share my knowledge with any party, any specific group, or like-minded people.”

Kinnar Akhara had expelled her
It is worth noting that Mamta Kulkarni, who was expelled from the Kinnar Akhara for making statements regarding Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand at the Prayagraj Magh Mela, has now resigned. In her resignation, she said that she will continue to live her devout life even without the position.

Mamta Kulkarni has written “Mukund” between Mamta and Kulkarni in her name in both Hindi and English. She has not included the name Yamai Mamta Nand Giri, which she received from the Kinnar Akhara, in this note. Through this note, she has tried to convey the message that the Kinnar Akhara did not expel her, but that she herself has relinquished her position. Mamta Kulkarni, who joined the Kinnar Akhara last January, has been upset several times in the past year.
