Chandigarh: Amidst reports of a major split within the Aam Aadmi Party, the Bhagwant Mann government in Punjab has withdrawn the security of former cricketer and Rajya Sabha MP Harbhajan Singh. This move comes amid speculation that the “Turbinator” may soon leave the AAP and join the BJP.
Harbhajan Singh’s personal assistant, Mandeep Singh, stated that the Punjab government has suddenly withdrawn his entire police security. According to reports, approximately 9 to 10 security personnel deployed outside Harbhajan Singh’s home have been removed, and the government pilot car provided to him has also been withdrawn.
The roots of this entire incident lie in a claim made by Raghav Chadha, who recently joined the BJP. Chadha had stated that 7 of the 10 Rajya Sabha MPs of the Aam Aadmi Party are leaving the party and are in contact with the BJP. Among these seven potential candidates, Harbhajan Singh’s name is being mentioned prominently. Although Harbhajan Singh has remained silent on these speculations so far, the withdrawal of his security is being seen as a clear sign of the government’s displeasure.
