PM Modi Appeals for the Second Time in 24 Hours, Work from Home, Refrain from Buying Gold, Exercise Restraint on Petrol and Diesel

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appealed to the citizens of the country twice within 24 hours to conserve gold. While addressing a public gathering in Gujarat, he stated that, through every effort—whether small or large—we must reduce our consumption of products imported from abroad and avoid personal activities that entail the expenditure of foreign currency.

Earlier, on Sunday, the Prime Minister had also made several significant observations regarding the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. During that occasion as well, he discussed the issue of foreign currency and highlighted the importance of conserving gold. Today, Monday, speaking in Gujarat, the Prime Minister emphasized that, as citizens of India, we must prioritize our duties. He reminded the public that whenever the nation has faced war or a major crisis in the past, every citizen has fulfilled their duty in response to the government’s appeal. Today, too, there is a need for all of us to collectively fulfill our responsibilities and alleviate the burden placed on the country’s resources.

Reduce Consumption of Petrol and Diesel
Speaking in Gujarat, PM Modi appealed to every citizen: “Wherever possible, please reduce your consumption of petrol and diesel and utilize public transportation.” Additionally, he urged both government and private offices to prioritize virtual meetings and ‘Work from Home’ arrangements. He further noted that a substantial amount of foreign currency is also expended on the import of edible oils. He asserted that the need of the hour is to embrace the ‘Vocal for Local’ initiative.

On Sunday, while addressing a public meeting in Telangana, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had similarly appealed to the people to refrain from purchasing gold for a period of one year in the national interest. During that address, while referencing the impact of ongoing global conflicts, he stated that these international crises are having a serious repercussions on India as well.

PM Modi Arrives in Vadodara
On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Vadodara, Gujarat. At Ankhol in Vadodara, PM Modi inaugurated various projects associated with Gujarat’s third ‘Sardardham’ initiative. Under the Sardar Dham Project, the Dr. Dushyant and Daksha Patel Hostel—constructed at a cost of ₹150 crore to accommodate 2,000 students—was also inaugurated.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that today is nothing short of a sacred festival. The ‘Somnath Amrit Mahotsav’ is being celebrated to mark the completion of 75 years since the *Pran Pratishtha* (consecration ceremony) of the Somnath Temple. Referring to the election results in Bengal, Assam, and Puducherry, the Prime Minister remarked that these outcomes have created an atmosphere of enthusiasm across the country. PM Modi noted that Gujarat has always accorded importance to political stability.
