Prayagraj: A deeply heart-wrenching story of the ultimate sacrifice—a testament to maternal love—has emerged from the ‘City of the Sangam,’ Prayagraj. During a massive fire that broke out here, a mother risked her own life to save the lives of her three children.

Disregarding her own safety, she successfully managed to pull all three children out to safety; however, she herself became trapped in the maze of fire and smoke and subsequently lost her life. This tragic incident occurred last Tuesday (May 12) at the home of a crockery merchant, but a soul-shuddering video capturing this act of bravery and tragedy went viral on social media on Saturday.

Brave Mother Fights Death for 30 Minutes

The viral video shows a massive fire raging on the lower floor of a multi-story residential building, with plumes of black smoke billowing from the entire structure. The woman, along with her three children, was trapped on the building’s rooftop. Surrounded on all sides by smoke and flames, she struggled alone for nearly 30 minutes in a desperate bid to get her children to safety.

As the fire continued to spread upwards, the woman displayed extraordinary courage. She wrapped her innocent infant—barely a year old—in a bedsheet and passed the child across toward the rooftop of a neighbor’s house situated on the other side of the lane. Acting with great alertness, the neighbors reached out and safely pulled the child across.

Immediately thereafter, the neighbors positioned an iron ladder between the two buildings. Without wasting a moment, the mother used the ladder to safely send her two young daughters across to the neighbor’s rooftop, one by one. Choking on the smoke, she struggled to breathe and was unable to reach the staircase. In a matter of moments, she was overtaken by the fire and succumbed to her fate right there.
