Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay on Monday attended the India Today Tamil Nadu Roundtable in Chennai as the chief guest and formally inaugurated the event. The programme coincided with the completion of his government’s first 100 days in office.
During the event, Vijay also officially launched the ‘India Today Tamil’ YouTube channel, with the message, “Let the truth be spoken more boldly.”
The roundtable brings together political leaders, policymakers, industry representatives and personalities from the entertainment sector to deliberate on the issues shaping Tamil Nadu’s future. The discussions will also focus on assessing the government’s performance during its first 100 days.
Sports Minister Adhav Arjun is scheduled to open the proceedings with a presentation highlighting the government’s achievements and initiatives during its first 100 days.
Political Leaders to Debate Key Issues
The event will feature several high-profile political discussions. Former BJP leader K. Annamalai, who recently left the party and launched an independent grassroots political campaign, will discuss his political journey and future plans in a session titled ‘Annamalai Beyond BJP’.
Tamil Nadu’s contentious delimitation issue will also take centre stage. A special session will bring together MDMK MP Durai Vaiko, Congress MP Praveen Chakravarty, BJP leader Tamilisai Soundararajan, and DMK spokesperson Salem Dharanidharan to debate its political and demographic implications.
DMK MP Dayanidhi Maran will participate in another political session, while actor Dhruv Vikram is also scheduled to feature in a special session.
Economy, Investment and Policy Challenges in Focus
Beyond politics, the roundtable will examine Tamil Nadu’s economic outlook and investment climate. Discussions are expected to cover several critical areas, including corruption, education, energy, finance and healthcare.
The event is positioned as a platform for political leaders, experts and industry voices to debate the state’s key challenges and explore possible pathways for Tamil Nadu’s future growth.
With the launch of India Today Tamil, the event also marks a significant expansion of regional digital news coverage, aiming to bring Tamil-language journalism and public-interest discussions to a wider digital audience.
