Jamui. Two communities clashed during a religious procession in Jamui district of Bihar, after which the state government has shut down internet services in the district as a precaution. The incident took place in Jhajha on Sunday, in which three people were injured, while nine people have been arrested so far.
According to the news agency report, District Magistrate Abhilasha Sharma said that during the religious procession in Jhajha, people of both the communities clashed with each other. The situation became tense and both sides started pelting stones, injuring three people.
The police immediately controlled the situation and admitted all the injured to the nearest government hospital, where their condition is now said to be out of danger. The District Magistrate said that a policeman has been suspended for negligence during the incident. Police have registered a case against 50-60 unidentified people and nine accused have been arrested so far.
To control the situation, police conducted a flag march in Jhajha on Monday and additional security forces have been deployed. DM Abhilasha Sharma said that the situation is now completely under control, but internet services in the district have been suspended till February 18 to maintain public peace.
The administration has appealed to the people to maintain peace and warned that strict action will be taken against anyone who spreads rumors or tries to spoil the atmosphere.
