Brazil: PM Modi reached Rio de Janeiro to participate in the 17th BRICS summit

Brasilia. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to participate in the 17th BRICS summit, where he was warmly welcomed at the Galeão International Airport. This is a two-phase visit of the PM to Brazil which is taking place on the invitation of Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. During this visit, the PM will make a state visit to the capital Brasilia after participating in the BRICS summit in Rio.

After reaching Rio de Janeiro, the PM expressed happiness and posted on Instagram, ‘I have reached Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where I will participate in the BRICS summit and then go to its capital Brasilia for a state visit on the invitation of President Lula. A fruitful round of meetings and talks is expected during this visit.

Will have bilateral talks with Brazilian President
PM Modi will have bilateral talks with President Lula in Brasilia. The aim of which is to further strengthen the strategic partnership between India and Brazil. This partnership will focus on expansion in key areas like trade, defense, energy, space, technology, agriculture, health and people-to-people relations. This meeting is considered important in view of the increasing cooperation between the two countries.

Will have bilateral talks with global leaders
At the same time, Prime Minister Modi will hold bilateral meetings with various global leaders at the 17th BRICS summit held in Rio de Janeiro. The BRICS group, which originally included Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. Gradually the group expanded and Saudi Arabia, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Ethiopia, Indonesia and Iran joined, making it one of the most powerful alliances of emerging economies across the world. Meanwhile, people of the Indian community in Brazil are eagerly waiting for PM Modi and said that it is a matter of good fortune for them to welcome the PM. According to the news agency, Vijay Solanki, a member of the Indian diaspora community, said, ‘I am from Gujarat… I have been living in Brazil for a long time. We are very excited and feel proud and honored to welcome our Prime Minister today.’

Another member of the Indian diaspora community, Puja, expressed excitement and said, ‘I am from Gujarat and have been living in Brazil for the last three years. I am very excited to meet him.’

Kartik, a member of the Indian diaspora community, said, “We are very excited to welcome Prime Minister Modi… We want India-Brazil relations to become stronger.”
