
New Delhi: The Bhupendra Patel government in Gujarat has announced a new portfolio allocation within the cabinet. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has assumed responsibility for several key departments, including General Administration, Administrative Reforms, and Training. Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi has been assigned several key portfolios, including Home, Police, Housing, Jails, Border Security, Village Guards, Civil Defense, Liquor and Excise, Transport, Law and Justice, Sports, and Youth Services. He has significant responsibilities related to security and administration.
Cabinet Minister Kanubhai Mohanlal Desai has been given the responsibility of Finance, Urban Development, and Urban Housing. These departments are considered crucial for the state’s economic and urban planning. Minister Rushikesh Ganeshbhai Patel has been assigned the departments of Energy and Petrochemicals, Panchayats and Rural Housing, and Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs, all of which are crucial for the state’s energy management and rural development.
Meanwhile, Rivaba Jadeja, wife of Indian cricketer Ravindra Jadeja, who is part of the state cabinet, has been given the Primary, Secondary, and Adult Education portfolio. This will allow her to focus on improving the quality of education in the state.
Earlier, in the cabinet expansion, Harsh Sanghvi was appointed the new Deputy Chief Minister of the state. He is a three-time MLA and currently represents the Majura constituency. Governor Acharya Devvrat administered the oath of office to 25 MLAs, bringing the total number of ministers in the Council of Ministers, including Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, to 26. MLA Arjun Modhwadia, who left the Congress and joined the BJP last year, has also been appointed a minister.
