‘I am a Muslim of Pakistani origin, they will torture me…’, Tahawwur Rana’s new trick to avoid extradition to India

    New Delhi: 26/11 Mumbai attack accused Tahawwur Rana has approached the court to avoid extradition to India. Rana has filed a petition in the US Supreme Court asking for an emergency stay on his extradition. There is an exclusive copy of the petition filed by Tahawwur Rana in the US Supreme Court. In the petition, Tahawwur Rana has said that if I am extradited to India, I will be tortured. I will not be able to survive much in India.

    He said in his petition that being a Muslim of Pakistani origin, he will be tortured a lot in India. The Human Rights Watch 2023 World Report states that the BJP government of India discriminates against religious minorities, especially Muslims. The petition states that the Indian government is becoming increasingly dictatorial and there are sufficient reasons that he will be tortured if handed over to the Indian government. Tahawwur Rana said that he is suffering from many diseases. He is also suffering from Parkinson’s problem. He should not be sent to a place where he will be targeted nationally, religiously and culturally.


    Who is Tahawwur Rana?

    Tahawwur Rana was born in Pakistan. He studied at the Army Medical College and worked as a doctor in the Pakistan Army for 10 years. But Tahawwur Rana did not like his job and he left this job. Tahawwur Rana, who was involved in terrorist activities against India, is currently a Canadian citizen. But recently he was a resident of Chicago, where he has a business.

    According to court documents, he has traveled and lived in Canada, Pakistan, Germany and England, he can speak about 7 languages. Court documents show that from 2006 to November 2008, Tahawwur Rana conspired with David Headley and others in Pakistan. During this time, Tahawwur Rana helped terrorist organizations Lashkar-e-Taiba and Harkat ul Jihad e Islami and planned the Mumbai terror attack and helped execute it. Terrorist Headley has become a government witness in this case.

    What happened on 26 November 2008?

    On 26 November 2008, a terrorist attack took place on the country’s financial capital Mumbai. To foil this terrorist attack, 200 NSG commandos and fifty army commandos were sent to Mumbai. Apart from this, five army units were also deployed there. The Navy was also kept on alert during the attack.

Choudhary.
