MP Cough Syrup Scandal: Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla Arrives in Nagpur, 4 Children in Critical Condition

Chhindwara: There is an uproar in Chhindwara over the deaths of children due to cough syrup. So far, 20 children have died in this incident, while some are still hospitalized in Nagpur. MP Deputy Chief Minister and Health Minister Rajendra Shukla visited them. He inquired about the well-being of the affected children and met with their families. During this visit, Rajendra Shukla stated, “He has met with the children admitted to the Nagpur hospital. According to him, the condition of four children is still critical, while the health of one child has shown improvement.” Doctors have been asked to exercise utmost caution in this matter.

Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla stated that 20 deaths have been confirmed so far, while the remaining children are under close medical supervision. Regarding the IMA’s strike threat, he stated that he has spoken to the doctor community and urged them not to go on strike. However, the doctor community has requested an hour’s time and stated that they will make a decision after discussing with their provincial and national presidents. It should be noted that following the action taken against the doctors, they had also announced a strike. This could have deepened the health crisis in MP. Therefore, the government has agreed to hold talks with the doctors.

Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla stated that he has spoken to the families of all the children and urged them to remain courageous, as the government fully supports the affected families. Discussions have been held with the doctors to ensure the best possible treatment for the children. Furthermore, the government will bear the cost of their treatment. They will be continuously monitored and strict action is being taken until they are fully recovered. Rajendra Shukla stated that Chief Minister Mohan Yadav is completely serious about this matter and the issue is extremely sensitive. Therefore, action is being taken against those responsible.

It’s worth noting that 20 children have died in this incident so far, and action is being taken from Madhya Pradesh to the Tamil Nadu cough syrup company. Currently, the condition of four children admitted in Nagpur is reported to be critical. Furthermore, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, will also visit Chhindwara to meet with the families of the affected children. This issue is becoming increasingly heated.
