‘Munir Army’ Under Fire: UK Protest Highlights Alleged Human Rights Abuses in PoK, Calls for Global Intervention

New Delhi: Members of the Kashmiri diaspora staged a protest in Bradford, United Kingdom, alleging widespread human rights violations by Pakistan’s security forces—referred to by demonstrators as the ‘Munir Army’—in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The protesters expressed solidarity with the people of PoK and backed the demands of the Joint Awami Action Committee, calling for international attention to the region’s deteriorating situation.

Gathering in Bradford’s city centre, demonstrators carried banners and placards demanding the protection of fundamental rights, civil liberties, and human dignity. Organizers said the rally was aimed at highlighting the alleged crackdown in PoK and urging the global community to take notice.

During the protest, speakers alleged that security operations conducted over the past two months had resulted in civilian casualties, widespread fear, and restrictions on daily life. They claimed that women, children, and elderly residents have been among the worst affected by the ongoing situation.

Demand for Independent Probe into Rights Violations
Protesters called for an independent, transparent, and impartial investigation into allegations of excessive use of force, house raids, and other human rights abuses. They urged authorities to ensure accountability and uphold the rule of law.

The demonstrators also appealed to the international community, global human rights organisations, and the British government to closely monitor developments in PoK, safeguard fundamental freedoms, and support peaceful efforts to address the concerns raised by local communities.

Protesters Allege Civilian Casualties, Election Irregularities
According to the protest organisers, residents of PoK have been facing sustained action by Pakistani security forces over the past several months. They alleged that multiple civilians were killed or injured after security personnel opened fire during recent protests.

The organisers further claimed that recent elections in the region witnessed low voter participation and alleged irregularities. They asserted that many residents are demanding an end to Pakistan’s control over the territory and appealed for greater international involvement to restore peace, ensure accountability, and protect the rights of the local population.
