Pakistan was informed before “Operation Sindoor”… Centre’s retort to Rahul Gandhi’s allegation

May 18, 2025

New Delhi. After the serious allegations leveled by Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar, the Central Government has strongly protested. Rahul Gandhi had shared a video on social media and claimed that the Indian government had informed Pakistan before starting “Operation Sindoor”, which is an act of treason. On this, the government has clarified that Pakistan was warned not before but after the start of the operation.

Let us tell you that while addressing the media on May 11, Indian Army’s Director General Military Operations (DGMO) Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai had said that India had tried to make Pakistan aware of its intention in the initial phase of Operation Sindoor, but Pakistan harshly rejected it. He had said, “Immediately after Operation Sindoor, when we tried to explain our compulsion to attack terror centers to Pakistan’s DGMO, he not only rejected it, but also said that a strong response from Pakistan is certain. We were fully prepared for this.”

At the same time, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) also rejected Rahul Gandhi’s allegations and said that the facts are being presented in a completely wrong way. The ministry said that the statement of External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar makes it clear that Pakistan was warned after the start of Operation Sindoor and not before it. He said, “The Foreign Minister had said that we warned Pakistan in the beginning, which means during the initial phase of Operation Sindoor and not before the operation. This statement is being deliberately misrepresented.”

Rahul Gandhi made serious allegations against the government in his X post. He wrote, “It is a crime to inform Pakistan at the beginning of our attack. The Foreign Minister has publicly admitted that the government did this. Who allowed this? How many planes did our Air Force lose due to this?”

Let us tell you that India launched “Operation Sindoor” on May 7, which was done in response to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir on April 22, in which 26 civilians were killed. Under the operation, the Indian Armed Forces struck deep on terrorist camps located in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoJK), killing more than 100 terrorists of organizations like Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba and Hizbul Mujahideen.

In response, Pakistan attempted cross-border shelling and drone attacks, after which India carried out coordinated air strikes on 11 Pakistani airbases, causing serious damage to their military structures. After this, on May 10, both the countries agreed to end the hostilities under mutual understanding.
