Sonam Raghuvanshi’s dangerous love, Raja considered conspiracy as love… Whatever Sonam said, he silently did it

Indore: Sonam and Raja were newly married. There was newness in the relationship, there was trust, and there was such love in which there was no place for the word no. Whatever his wife said, became Raja’s world. Raja Raghuvanshi kept agreeing to everything his wife Sonam said without any question. And perhaps this proved to be the biggest or say the last decision of his life. When to go on honeymoon, which route to choose, what to wear, how much money to take with him, Sonam kept taking every decision and Raja kept giving approval with his head bowed. But Raja did not know why his wife was making him say yes to everything. Sonam was hatching such a conspiracy, which was going to take him straight to the valley of death.

The relationship which started from the introduction booklet
Raja Raghuvanshi belonged to a transport businessman’s family of Indore. His family consists of his parents, two brothers and sister-in-law. Sonam’s family lives in Kushwah Nagar in Indore, where her father has a plywood business. Raja and Sonam’s relationship was linked to the details recorded in the Raghuvanshi community’s identity book. Then both the families got in touch and the relationship was fixed. Raja’s family went to Sonam’s house and liked her. After this the marriage was fixed. Raja’s mother Uma Raghuvanshi says that we had accepted our daughter-in-law with great affection. We used to talk to her mother, everything seemed fine.

Marriage, and farewell after 4 days
On 11 May 2025, Raja and Sonam got married with great pomp in the presence of the entire community. The same night Sonam reached her in-laws’ house. But just four days later she returned to her maternal home. At that time the month of Jeth was going on, so the ritual of Pagphera was also not performed. Uma Raghuvanshi says, we had told them to call the daughter-in-law, but her mother said – we will call in June.

Which all things did Raja listen to in Sonam’s words?
Raja did not want to go on honeymoon. The family said that the plan was to go in June after the wedding. But Sonam insisted on the phone that they should go to Shillong. Raja agreed. He did not tell anyone anything. This was the first sign that Raja could not refuse Sonam’s words. According to the family, Raja did not like mountains, but Sonam showed him the dream of Shillong’s greenery and valleys. He agreed. After this, a plan for a honeymoon trip was made, and on May 20, both of them left for Meghalaya.

From clothes to money, whatever Sonam said, happened
Usually Raja did not go out wearing gold or silver, but Sonam said that he should wear a gold chain and ring. Raja listened to her and went wearing them. Raja’s mother came to know after seeing a photo from the airport that Raja had gone wearing a gold chain and ring. Not only this, on Sonam’s insistence, Raja also took money from home. The family says that Raja did not usually make such preparations. But he did everything as per Sonam’s instructions.

Shortcut to death
On May 23, both of them reached Nongrihat village. Sonam told Raja that this route is a shortcut, we will reach soon. While talking to his mother on the phone, Raja had also told that Sonam was taking him on a deserted road. Raja did not like such routes, but he listened to his wife. Now that the entire murder case has come to light, the family feels that the shortcut was actually a plan to die. The deserted route was chosen so that the murder could be carried out there.

Phone forcibly switched off
The family members say that Raja last spoke to his family on May 24. After this, the phone got switched off. The family members kept calling continuously but could not get in touch. Now it is suspected that Sonam forcibly got Raja’s phone switched off, so that no one could contact him.

Confessed the crime, conspiracy exposed
In the interrogation of Indore Crime Branch, all the four accused have confessed their crime. It was told that Sonam along with her lover and his friends had planned to murder Raja. Every step of taking Raja to the mountains and deserted places was a part of the planning. After the murder, the body was thrown under the bridge, where on May 27, the police found a dead body in an abandoned condition.
