Taking to the social media platform X, Sonam Wangchuk wrote, “I have just ended my 26-day hunger strike in the presence of Union Ministers JP Nadda and Dr. Jitendra Singh, along with senior leaders of the ‘Apex Body’ of Leh-Ladakh.”

Wangchuk further stated, “Prior to this, 65 Members of Parliament from various political parties had urged me—either in person or through letters—to call off the hunger strike. This decision was taken after lengthy discussions regarding various conditions and in view of the potential for violence in the country. I will explain these conditions in detail in a separate video very soon. In the meantime, I urge all of you to remain extremely vigilant and ensure that no violence of any kind occurs anywhere.”

Meanwhile, PM Modi stated on X, “I urge Sonam-ji to follow the doctors’ advice regarding his routine and regain his previous weight as soon as possible.”

It is worth noting that Sonam Wangchuk was initially admitted to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi. His wife, Gitanjali Angmo, had petitioned the court to have him transferred to Medanta for treatment. During the hearing, the Delhi High Court had ordered his transfer to Medanta Hospital. The court had stated that, given his current health condition, continuous monitoring by specialist doctors is essential.

Meanwhile, JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh met Wangchuk at Medanta Hospital, where he had been admitted for medical observation after his health deteriorated during the hunger strike.
