Lucknow: Major news has emerged concerning the family of Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav. Akhilesh Yadav’s brother, Prateek Yadav (38), has passed away in Lucknow. Prateek Yadav was the younger son of Samajwadi Party founder and former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Mulayam Singh Yadav, and his second wife, Sadhana Gupta. He was Akhilesh Yadav’s stepbrother.
Prateek Yadav had been admitted to the Civil Hospital in Lucknow due to health-related complications, where he breathed his last. He was the husband of BJP leader Aparna Yadav. However, in recent times, there had been reports of discord between the couple. Although he was currently living with his family, it is said that family strife persisted.
He had been unwell for the past few days and was undergoing treatment. He was brought to the hospital this morning—Wednesday—where doctors declared him dead. The news of Prateek Yadav’s demise has sent a wave of grief through the Yadav family and supporters of the Samajwadi Party.
What Caused His Death?
The specific illness responsible for his death remains unknown. Some time ago, he had been admitted to Medanta Hospital. During that period, both Aparna Yadav and Akhilesh Yadav had visited him. He was brought back home after his condition stabilized.
There had been speculation regarding his lifestyle, specifically his gym routine and the consumption of various supplements or medications. For the past few days, he did not appear to be in perfect health; however, no one had anticipated that his illness would prove to be fatal. Prateek Yadav’s body is currently at the hospital, where family members have gathered.
The Gym Business
Distancing himself from his family’s political background, Prateek Yadav worked in the sectors of real estate and fitness entrepreneurship. He held an MBA degree from the University of Leeds in London, United Kingdom. Prateek Yadav was a fitness enthusiast and also owned a gym business in Lucknow. He had a great passion for working out at the gym and staying fit.
Prateek had not contested any elections to date, nor had he held any major position within the party. He generally remained distant from active politics. In an interview given in 2017, Yadav stated that he would stay away from politics for as long as possible and focus on his business instead. Although demands for him to contest elections occasionally surfaced from within the party’s inner circles, he never contemplated building a career in politics.
