Birmingham: English batsman Harry Brook performed brilliantly with the bat in the Edgbaston Test match against India. Brook scored 158 runs in 234 balls with the help of 17 fours and a six in England’s first innings. During this, Brook along with Jamie Smith made a partnership of 303 runs for the sixth wicket, due to which England’s team was also successful in saving the follow-on.
England’s team seems to be lagging behind in the match
Despite the brilliant batting of Harry Brook and Jamie Smith, the English team seems to be lagging behind in the Edgbaston Test match. In this match, India scored 587 runs in their first innings, in response to which England’s first innings was limited to 407 runs. That is, on the basis of the first innings, the Indian team got a lead of 180 runs. India is in a strong position, but it would not be right to take England lightly. The fourth day’s play is going to decide the direction of this match.
Now century-maker Harry Brook has given a warning to the Indian team. Brook believes that his team is ready to chase any target in the fourth innings. By the end of the third day’s play, India’s total lead was 244 runs and it had 9 wickets in hand. It seems that if the Indian team bats for two to two and a half sessions on the fourth day, then England may have to chase a target of more than 500.
Harry Brook said in an exclusive conversation with BBC, ‘I still think we can win this Test match. Everyone knows that we will chase the target, no matter how big it is. We have done it before and will try again. It was nice to spend time at the crease with Smudge (Jamie Smith). Hopefully we are back in the match.’
Brook praised the Indian bowlers
Harry Brook praised the Indian bowlers and said that the direction of the match changed only after their dismissal. Brook says, ‘If I had not been out, we would not have been in this position. Akash Deep and Mohammad Siraj bowled well. They adopted all methods to take wickets.’
