New Delhi: Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani has spoken about the company’s succession. He stated that the transfer of day-to-day management within the company is nearly complete, signaling that the succession process at this massive conglomerate—spanning sectors from energy to education—has reached its final stage.
Addressing shareholders at the company’s Annual General Meeting, Ambani noted that his three children—Akash, Isha, and Anant—have each completed three years on the RIL board and are now managing key business areas. Ambani mentioned that Akash handles the tech business, Isha leads the retail business, and Anant manages the energy portfolio.
He emphasized that the group would remain united under the next generation of leadership, describing them as “three bodies, one soul” whose lifeblood is Reliance—a company that will never be split up. Assuring shareholders about the company’s future leadership, Ambani said that the company’s future is not only in safe hands but in hands that will take Reliance to even greater heights.
Ambani further stated that the group has trained around 500 young leaders—aged between 30 and 40—across various businesses to accelerate development. According to him, these leaders bring sector expertise and a focus on technology, combined with the passion of a first-generation entrepreneur.
Ambani mentioned that he remains active and plays a role in many major decisions. He clarified that the transition of day-to-day responsibilities is now in its final phase. His current term is set to end in April 2029. The three siblings have also begun to appear more actively at RIL’s Annual General Meetings, where they have presented plans and updates regarding their respective divisions. Investors remain keenly interested in the speeches delivered at Ambani’s annual general meetings, as these are among the few occasions when he directly addresses shareholders on camera.
Ambani first spoke publicly about succession planning at an internal event in December 2021. In his latest statement, he also sought to address concerns that the group’s businesses might move in divergent directions under the next generation, noting that while the siblings lead different sectors, they are working towards the broader growth of the Reliance ecosystem.
