Will Israel not attack Iranian nuclear site? US said – no guarantee…

  • October 05, 2024

New Delhi: Israel has not yet assured the Biden administration that it will not target Iran’s nuclear sites in response to Tuesday’s ballistic missile attack, a US State Department official told CNN on Friday. The official told CNN that it is difficult to assess when Israel will retaliate, but it is likely that the action will be taken before or after October 7, the anniversary of Hamas’s cross-border massacre in southern Israel, and not on the same day.

What is the matter of concern?
A senior US State Department official has informed CNN that Israel has not yet assured the Biden administration that it will not attack Iran’s nuclear sites. This apprehension has increased further when Iran launched a ballistic missile attack on Israel on Tuesday. There has been no direct retaliation from Israel, but officials believe Israel may retaliate soon.

    What did the official say?
According to the official, it is difficult to say when and how Israel will respond, but it is estimated that Israel may attack before or after October 7. This date is important because it is the anniversary of the massacre carried out in Israel by Hamas. Hamas carried it out in southern Israel last year.

Meanwhile, the question has also been raised whether Israel has made it clear to the US that it will include Iran’s nuclear sites in its targets. On this, the official said that the Biden administration wants to see the use of “power with wisdom”, but also made it clear that no guarantee has been given.

The US administration’s stance is that the growing tension between Iran and Israel should be resolved diplomatically, but no concrete promise or assurance can be given in the current situation. The US is closely monitoring Israel’s possible retaliatory strikes and its consequences, while this situation has become even more serious for regional security.

    Trump has said this
Former US President Donald Trump said that Israel should target Iran’s nuclear facilities in response to the Islamic Republic’s recent missile attack. His remarks came after President Joe Biden said that a “full-blown war” in the Middle East is unlikely and should be avoided amid rising tensions between Israel and Iran.

Trump was referring to a question asked to President Biden about the possibility of Israel targeting Iran’s nuclear bases in response to the 200 missile attack. Amid rising tensions, top US State Department officials said that Israel has not given any such assurance to the Biden administration that it will not target Iran’s nuclear facilities.

IDF claims – 250 Hezbollah fighters eliminated
The Israel Defense Forces have claimed that Israel has destroyed more than 2000 Hezbollah military bases and eliminated about 250 Hezbollah fighters in the last four days. According to the IDF, the Hezbollah commanders killed included five battalion commanders, 10 company commanders and six platoon commanders.

The IDF further said that the Israeli Air Force is also carrying out preemptive strikes during intelligence-based operations in southern Lebanon. In a post on the social media platform X, the IDF wrote, “In the past 4 days, the IDF has eliminated more than 2,000 military targets and 250 Hezbollah terrorists. Among them are 5 battalion commanders – 10 company commanders – 6 platoon commanders.”
