
Mumbai. An Indigo flight going from Delhi to Goa had to make an emergency landing at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai on Wednesday night due to engine failure. According to sources, after the flight took off, the pilot informed the Air Traffic Control (ATC) about the emergency situation at around 9:25 pm. After this, the plane was safely landed at around 9:42 pm. After the safe landing of the plane, all the passengers have been evacuated safely.
According to sources, Indigo flight 6E-231 flying from Delhi to Goa had to make an emergency landing after a technical fault occurred during takeoff.
One engine of the plane failed
According to sources, one of the engines of the plane failed mid-air, after which the pilot immediately informed the ATC and sought permission for an emergency landing in Mumbai. After the emergency alarm was sounded at 9:25 pm, full emergency protocols were implemented at the airport. Fire tenders and ambulances were kept on standby. The plane landed safely at Mumbai airport at 9:42 pm.
IndiGo issued a statement
An IndiGo spokesperson issued a statement saying, ‘On July 16, 2025, while flying from Delhi to Manohar International Airport, Goa, a technical fault was detected in flight number 6E 6271. After this, following the rules, the plane was diverted and landed at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport Mumbai. ‘
He further said that the necessary checks and maintenance of the aircraft will be done before resuming its operations. At present, the aircraft is being inspected and alternative arrangements have been made to take the passengers to their destination, which will depart soon with the passengers. He also apologized for the inconvenience caused to the passengers.
