Lucknow. Three terrorists arrested from Ahmedabad in an operation by Gujarat’s Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) have made a sensational revelation. Doctor Mohiuddin, Sohail of Lakhimpur Kheri, and Azad Saifi of Shamli, associated with the Khorasan module, confessed that they were planning to target devotees visiting major temples in New Delhi, Lucknow, and Ahmedabad using Prasad. The plan was to kill a large number of people by mixing the deadly chemical ‘Ricin’ into the Prasad.

According to sources, the three accused were in direct contact with their handler, Abu Khadija, based in Afghanistan. Detailed information on making ricin, reconnaissance of temples, photographs, and videos were recovered from their mobile phones. During the arrest, a stock of the dangerous chemical ‘Ricin’, which is classified as a biological weapon, was also seized from the accused.

During interrogation, Sohail and Azad revealed that they had conducted recce of the Hanuman Setu Temple in Lucknow, the Jagannath Temple in Ahmedabad, and some prominent religious sites in Delhi over the past few months. The plan was to mix ricin into the prasad distributed at the temples and feed it to devotees. Even a small amount of ricin can kill a person – it is a highly lethal poison extracted from castor beans. The accused confessed that their handler instructed them to “spread terror by attacking religious places and create divisions in society.” They were trained online to mix ricin into prasad. The ATS suspects this plan was to be executed during festivals or major fairs.

Both Sohail and Azad completed their Hafiz studies from a Madrasa in Muzaffarnagar. Subsequently, they were influenced by radical content on social media and joined the Khorasan module. Dr. Mohiuddin, a physician by profession, played a key role in the module due to his knowledge of chemicals. He was responsible for preparing ricin. A team from the UP ATS is still camping in Gujarat. Sohail and Azad’s UP network is being investigated. Raids are underway on their contacts in Lakhimpur, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, and Saharanpur. The ATS suspects that more individuals may be involved in the module, who were being supplied with weapons and funding.

Ricin: Classified as a Biological Weapon
According to experts, ricin is so dangerous that even 1 milligram can kill a human being. It can be ingested, inhaled, or injected. Bulgarian dissident Georgi Markov was assassinated with this poison in 1978. The ATS has sent the recovered chemical for forensic examination.

The Faridabad module also targeted temples.
According to the revelations made so far by Dr. Muzammil and Dr. Shaheen Shahid, arrested in Faridabad, and his brother, Dr. Parvez, their targets were the Ram Temple and the Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Ayodhya. Dr. Shaheen had already activated her sleeper cell in Ayodhya and was planning an attack on December 6th. However, the Jammu and Kashmir Police and Haryana ATS exposed this module before this could happen. However, their accomplice, Dr. Umar Nabi, blew himself up with explosives stored in an i20 car near Delhi’s Red Fort. This attack killed 12 people.
