New Delhi. The growing tensions between Iran and the US-Israel are now likely to resonate in Parliament. It is believed that the West Asia crisis could become a major issue during the current parliamentary session. According to sources, the central government is exercising extreme caution on this sensitive issue. The government has advised its party leaders and ministers to exercise restraint when making statements on the issue.

Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar is preparing to present India’s official stance on the crisis in Parliament. He will deliver his statement in the Rajya Sabha at 11 am and in the Lok Sabha at 12 pm. He has previously stated on several occasions that all countries should respect each other’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He also stated that finding a solution through dialogue is essential in the current situation.

  • India has also raised humanitarian concerns. Under this, Iran’s warship IRIS Lavan has been allowed to dock at Kochi Port on humanitarian grounds. The government’s cautious stance is also linked to India’s major strategic interests in the region. India relies heavily on the Gulf region for its oil needs. Additionally, millions of Indian citizens work in Gulf countries.

    Criticism of the Government’s Silence
In this context, rising tensions in West Asia could have a direct impact on India’s economy and inflation. Therefore, the government wants to maintain a very balanced and cautious approach on this issue. On the other hand, opposition parties may demand a more clear stance from the government on this issue. Some opposition leaders have already criticized the government’s perceived silence on this crisis.

    Congress Prepares Strategy
However, it is believed that the government will maintain its balanced approach. It will strive to maintain dialogue with all parties while keeping national interests in mind. Meanwhile, the Congress has also prepared to raise this issue strongly in Parliament. The party’s Parliamentary Strategy Group met at 10, Janpath. Many senior leaders, including Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, and Rahul Gandhi, were present.

Several Issues to Be Raised in Parliament
Following the meeting, Congress MP Naseer Hussain stated that the party would raise several national and international issues in Parliament. He stated that the ongoing crisis in West Asia and its impact on India’s energy needs would be raised in Parliament. The potential impact of the Indo-US trade deal on farmers and the financial challenges facing the country would also be discussed.

    Opposition Against the Speaker
Congress has indicated that the issue of granting full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir will also be raised in Parliament. In addition, the government will be asked to respond to issues such as the recent National Green Tribunal order regarding Great Nicobar Island, unemployment, and the falling value of the rupee against the dollar. The party has also stated that the opposition will vote against the Speaker during the discussion on the no-confidence motion in Parliament.

    Kharge calls Trump a dictator
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi over India’s stance on the West Asia crisis and the US decision on Russian oil supplies. He called US President Donald Trump a dictator and alleged that the Prime Minister was acting like his slave. “He (Trump) is a dictator. Modi is his slave,” Kharge said in Chittapur, Karnataka.
