Bettiah: A dramatic incident from Bhitiharwa in Bihar’s Bettiah district has attracted attention after villagers reportedly caught a young man visiting his girlfriend and the two were later married at a local temple with the consent of both families. A video purportedly showing the incident has gone viral on social media. However, the video and the claims associated with it have not been independently verified.
Young Man Caught During Visit
According to reports, Vijay Faujdar, a resident of Shrirampur, had gone to Bhitiharwa to meet his girlfriend, Suman Kumari. Villagers reportedly learned about his visit and caught him, after which a crowd gathered at the spot. As the situation developed, Nandkishore Chaurasia, a BDC member from Bhitiharwa Panchayat, reportedly intervened and spoke with the young man and the woman involved. During the discussion, the couple allegedly expressed their willingness to marry.
Families Agree, Couple Marries at Temple
Following discussions between the two sides, the families reportedly gave their consent to the marriage. The couple was subsequently married at the Bhitiharwa temple, turning what began as a confrontation into an unexpected wedding ceremony. A video purportedly showing the wedding and the events surrounding it later surfaced on social media and quickly began circulating, sparking discussion among local residents.
Not the First Such Incident
According to reports, this is not the first incident of its kind to emerge from Bihar or elsewhere in the country. Similar cases have previously been reported in which villagers caught couples meeting and the matter eventually resulted in the couple getting married. The latest incident has once again drawn attention because of the unusual sequence of events—from a young man being caught while visiting his girlfriend to the couple eventually getting married with their families’ reported consent.
