‘Any new attack will be met with an even deadlier response’ – Iran’s warning to the US

New Delhi: Following an attack on Qeshm Island, Iran has issued a stern warning to the United States against any further aggression. Brigadier General Akraminia, a spokesperson for the Iranian military, stated that if the US attacks again, Iran’s response will be far more powerful and lethal than before. He warned that any future conflict would not be confined to West Asia but could spread well beyond the region.

According to Akraminia, the Iranian military is currently updating its list of targets, which now includes US and Israeli military bases, as well as other strategic interests. He noted that any American base, military equipment, personnel, or interest located within range of Iranian forces could become a target.

Accusations of the US supplying arms to separatist groups
The Iranian military spokesperson accused the US of providing weapons to anti-government and separatist groups in the Kurdistan region of Iraq. He claimed that the US intended to use these groups to open a ground front against Iran; however, this plan failed due to the deployment of Iranian forces and prior military operations.

Meanwhile, a senior Iranian official, speaking to Reuters, indicated that the prospect of an agreement between Iran and the US to end the conflict remains distant. The official asserted that Tehran would not accept unreasonable demands from the US. He further warned that in the event of a US attack, Iran is prepared to deliver a powerful response—both within the region and beyond.

Iran seeks a security framework with Gulf nations
In the meantime, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that Iran harbors no hostility toward the member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). In an interview with Al Jazeera, he praised the roles played by Qatar and Oman and mentioned that discussions with Saudi Arabia are ongoing. Araghchi stated that Iran seeks a regional security arrangement led by the countries of the region itself, with no place for any external military presence. He maintains that decisions concerning regional security should be made collectively by the nations of the region.
