New Delhi: Following e-Aadhaar and free biometric updates, the central government has taken another major decision regarding the Aadhaar card. Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) CEO Bhuvneshwar Kumar has announced that a new Aadhaar app will be launched soon. Demo testing of the app has been completed, and it was successful. The mobile app can now be launched at any time, offering users access to a variety of Aadhaar-related features.
UIDAI CEO Bhuvneshwar Kumar stated that once the mobile app is launched, people will no longer need to carry a photocopy of their Aadhaar card in their pockets or purses. The app, called “dks,” will be launched in the next two to three months. While the app will include a mobile update feature, it will also have a unique identity sharing feature, but details will only be shared with the user’s permission.
Mobile numbers linked to Aadhaar cards will not be changed through the app. To do this, users will need to visit an Aadhaar center. The mobile number will be updated after biometric authentication. To identify a fake Aadhaar card, there’s a Quick Response Code (QR Code) on the top of the Aadhaar card, which can be scanned to obtain the correct details.
It’s worth noting that people can now get their Aadhaar card’s biometric update done for free. Previously, it cost ₹50, but now it’s free after the new order. The free biometric update is for children and adolescents. There will be no fee for new registration and biometric updates for children and adolescents’ Aadhaar cards. The new order applies to children and adolescents aged 5 to 7 and 15 to 17.
To update your Aadhaar card’s biometrics, visit a contact center. The nearest contact center can be found on the UIDAI’s official website or the mAadhaar app. Visit the center, obtain a form, fill in the relevant information, and provide biometric data, such as a fingerprint and iris scan, after which the biometric update will be completed.
