Amid Operation Sindoor, Pakistan shifts 72 terrorist launchpads from border areas

New Delhi: Following Operation Sindoor, Pakistan has shifted 72 terrorist launchpads near the border to “depth areas,” senior BSF officials said on Saturday. The BSF is prepared to inflict heavy casualties on the enemy upon government orders. However, following the four-day clashes in May, the army has maintained a pause in operations.

BSF DIG Vikram Kunwar stated that approximately 12 launchpads are operational in the depth areas of Sialkot and Zafarwal, while 60 launchpads are active in other areas. He added that these launchpads are not permanent and are usually active only before terrorists infiltrate into India. Currently, there are no training camps near the border. DIG Kunwar explained that previously, JeM and LeT personnel operated in separate areas, but after Operation Sindoor, terrorists are being trained together. This allows any group to receive training in a hybrid manner.

IG Jammu Frontier Shashank Anand stated that if the government orders the resumption of Operation Sindoor, the BSF is fully prepared. He stated that the BSF has gained experience in various wars, including 1965, 1971, 1999 Kargil, and Operation Sindoor, and can inflict greater damage on the enemy if necessary.

During Operation Sindoor, Pakistani Rangers fled their posts. IG Anand stated that all will return to their positions once the situation returns to normal. He stated that all activities are under BSF surveillance and appropriate action will be taken as per the circumstances. Currently, there is no active movement of terrorists along the border that would raise any alarm. The BSF is continuing its preparations and surveillance.
