New Delhi. New information has come to light about the Bullet Train. In the future, instead of Japan’s bullet train, indigenous bullet trains will be seen running between major cities of India. The Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project being run with the help of Japan will be the last. After this, bullet trains manufactured with indigenous technology of Indian Railways will run. Sources in the Railway Ministry said that the government has taken this decision by learning from the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Corridor project. This project is not only lagging far behind its set target but its cost has also increased manifold (more than two lakh crores).
A senior official of the Railway Board said that the operating cost of a bullet train running at a speed of 300 kilometers per hour increases four to five times. At the same time, the cost of building a high-speed corridor is very high. Due to this, the Railway Board has decided to run indigenous bullet trains at a speed of 250 kilometers per hour between major cities of the country. The official said that Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Chennai has issued tenders to develop the design of the indigenous bullet.
The train will run on these 6 routes
To build high speed corridors, feasibility report has been prepared between Delhi-Varanasi (865 km), Delhi-Ahmedabad (886 km), Nagpur-Varanasi, Delhi-Chandigarh, Chennai-Mysore, Hyderabad-Bengaluru. Railways will build elevated high speed corridors between the said cities.
Consensus reached on speed
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav told Hindustan that it is mandatory for the railway track to be elevated if the speed is 160 km per hour. He said that there is a global consensus that the maximum speed of bullet train is 250 km per hour. The maximum speed of the indigenous bullet train will be 280 km per hour while the commercial speed will be 250 km per hour. Vaishnav said that the design of the indigenous bullet train will be developed on the platform of Vande Bharat.
