Delhi: AC Blast in Vivek Vihar; Fire Engulfs Four-Story Building, Nine Dead; Rescue Operations Underway

New Delhi: Another major tragedy has struck the national capital, Delhi. A fire has broken out in a four-story building in the Vivek Vihar area of ​​Shahdara. Multiple fire tenders are currently present at the scene. Nine people have lost their lives in this massive blaze.

Late at night, a sudden fire erupted across six flats in Vivek Vihar, Delhi. The Fire Department received a report regarding the incident at 3:47 AM, following which fire tenders rushed to the spot. Several people became trapped inside the building after the fire broke out, and rescue teams are currently working tirelessly to extricate them.

Rescue operations are currently ongoing. So far, 16 people have been rescued. Reports confirm that nine people have died in the incident. According to official information, the Vivek Vihar Police Station received a PCR call regarding the fire. Upon receiving the alert, police personnel—accompanied by the SHO of Vivek Vihar and the ACP of Vivek Vihar—immediately proceeded to the scene.

The fire was concentrated in flats located on the second, third, and fourth floors of the building. During the rescue and firefighting operations, 10 to 15 people were safely evacuated from the building. Two of these individuals sustained minor injuries and were admitted to Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital for medical treatment.

Currently, 12 fire tenders, along with personnel from the DDMA (Delhi Disaster Management Authority), traffic officials, and local police, are present at the scene. Preliminary investigations have confirmed that nine people have lost their lives in this fire incident. Further investigations and legal proceedings are currently underway at the site.

Identification of Bodies Proves Difficult
Local Municipal Councilor Pankaj Luthra stated, “Upon receiving the information, I immediately rushed to the scene. I have just come down from the upper floors. Five bodies have been recovered from the rear section of the second floor.” Another body was recovered from the rear section, and three bodies were found on the uppermost floor. Identification is currently impossible.

We are still conducting further investigations; however, until DNA testing is completed, we will be unable to determine the gender of the victims. A total of nine deaths have been confirmed. We are still searching for additional individuals. While people are attributing the incident to a short circuit, nothing regarding the exact cause has been officially confirmed as yet.
