New Delhi: Former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi on Monday. According to officials, he fainted twice last week, after which doctors advised him to be admitted to the hospital as a precautionary measure for an MRI and other tests.

On January 10, Dhankhar experienced two episodes of fainting while going to the washroom. He had gone to AIIMS for a routine check-up on Monday, but doctors decided to admit him immediately after assessing his condition. This is not the first time Dhankhar has faced such health issues in public life. While serving as Vice President, he had fainted on several occasions during public events in the Rann of Kutch, Uttarakhand, Kerala, and Delhi.

  • It is worth noting that Jagdeep Dhankhar resigned from the post of Vice President on July 21 last year, citing ill health. In his resignation letter, he clearly stated that his priority was now his health and that he was relinquishing his responsibilities with immediate effect to seriously follow medical advice.

In his official letter to President Droupadi Murmu, Dhankhar wrote, “To prioritize my health and follow the advice of my doctors, I hereby submit my resignation from the office of the Vice President of India under Article 67(a) of the Constitution.”
