ISRO’s EOS-09 mission remained incomplete, the rocket could not cross the third stage due to technical glitch

New Delhi. Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO)’s PSLV-C61 rocket launch mission on Saturday was not successful. After the launch, a technical glitch was seen during the third stage, due to which the mission remained incomplete. ISRO chief V. Narayanan himself gave this information.

The head of ISRO said that the first and second phase of the satellite launch were normal but the third phase could not be completed and due to the defect the mission was not successful. He said, “…during the execution of the third phase we saw an obstruction and the mission could not be completed. Now we will analyze this data and then return to the mission.”

Under this mission, EOS-09 (Earth Observation Satellite-09) was to be placed in the Earth’s Sun Synchronous Orbit (SSPO). This satellite was a repeat version of EOS-04 and its purpose was to provide remote sensing data so that the user community working in various fields could get accurate and regular figures.

What was the purpose?
The EOS-09 satellite was designed with the aim to further strengthen the country’s remote sensing capabilities. EOS-09 was specifically designed to detect anti-terrorist operations, infiltration or suspicious activities.

ISRO’s technical team will now investigate the problem in detail to clarify at what stage the glitch occurred during the launch and how it can be rectified in the future
