
Bhopal. Several major decisions were taken during the cabinet meeting chaired by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Tuesday. Proposals worth over ₹24,500 crore received approval during the meeting. This includes a proposal to increase the budget for the Indore Metro project. Furthermore, a decision was made to operate certain centers on an outsourcing model to improve healthcare services. A budget was also sanctioned for the rehabilitation of 94 villages located in Kuno and other sanctuaries.
In the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, various proposals exceeding ₹24,500 crore related to infrastructure development and public welfare were approved. The revised cost of ₹19,472.29 crore for the Indore Metro Rail Project also received the green light. The cabinet decided to constitute a five-member sub-committee to oversee the implementation of the ‘Mega Healthcare Infrastructure Promotion Policy-2026’.
An official stated that this committee would study various aspects and submit a report aimed at expanding world-class super-specialty medical facilities and promoting welfare-oriented investments. To strengthen rural healthcare services, the cabinet also approved a pilot project to operate Community Health Centers in Rewa, Dewas, and Guna under an ‘outsourcing model’.
A significant decision regarding forest conservation under the 16th Finance Commission was also taken. Under this initiative, ₹2,381 crore has been sanctioned for the period between 2026 and 2031 to relocate residents of 94 villages situated in the sensitive zones of Kuno and other sanctuaries. Additionally, ₹687 crore has been approved to ensure quality educational and residential facilities for tribal students. A budget of ₹639.25 crore has been approved for various schemes related to the silk industry to provide employment to local people within their villages.
Indore Metro Project Budget Increased
The budget for the Indore Metro Rail Project has also been increased; it has been revised to ₹19,472.29 crore. This figure includes an increase of ₹5,388.58 crore over the original project cost of ₹7,500.80 crore, along with other financial provisions. The Cabinet has also approved ‘Project Tiger-Elephant’ and the ‘Village Rehabilitation Compensation Scheme’ under the Forest Department for the tenure of the 16th Central Finance Commission (April 1, 2026, to March 31, 2031).
Approval for Rehabilitation of 94 Villages
A sum of ₹1,250 crore has been sanctioned for the Village Rehabilitation Compensation Scheme. Under this scheme, the immovable assets of affected villagers will be acquired in accordance with the law, and compensation will be provided to them. The scheme will be implemented across 94 villages falling within the Sanjay Tiger Reserve, Satpura Tiger Reserve, Panna Tiger Reserve, Veerangana Durgavati Tiger Reserve, Ratapani Tiger Reserve, Orchha Sanctuary, and Kuno National Park.
