IED blast near LoC in Akhnoor, Jammu, 2 army soldiers martyred

New Delhi: Two soldiers have been martyred in an IED (Improvised Explosive Device) blast in Akhnoor sector of Jammu. This blast took place when a search operation was being conducted near the fence in Laleli. The White Knight Corps said, salute and tribute to the supreme sacrifice of the martyred soldiers. The army says that a search operation is being conducted in the area.

Officials say that the soldiers were patrolling in Bhattal area near the LoC in Akhnoor sector. During this time the blast took place. Initial investigation has revealed that an improvised explosive device (IED) blast took place. It is believed that it was planted by terrorists. After the blast, the entire area was cordoned off.

Apart from the IED blast, a mortar shell was found in Akhnoor sector of Jammu today. It has been deactivated by the bomb disposal squad. A police officer said that locals saw a mortar shell in Pratap Canal near Namandar village. As soon as the information was received, the police team reached the spot. After this, the bomb disposal squad was called, which defused the mortar shell.
