‘If the chair goes to the head, neither justice nor service will remain… it will only be sin’, said CJI BR Gavai

Amravati: Supreme Court Chief Justice Bhushan Gavai on Friday attended the inauguration ceremony of the newly-constructed grand building of the court in Daryapur, Maharashtra. He gave a very strict but valuable message to the judiciary, administration and advocate community.

Chief Justice Gavai said in his address, “This chair is for the service of the public, not for pride. If the chair goes to the head, it does not become service, but sin.” His statement was like a warning to everyone in the judiciary and administrative positions.

Bhushan Gavai reprimanded not only the administrative officers, but also the judges and lawyers for their behavior. He said, “Judges should respect lawyers. This court belongs to both lawyers and judges.”

In a warning tone to the junior lawyers, he said, “A 25-year-old lawyer sits on the chair and when a 70-year-old senior comes, he doesn’t even get up. Have some shame! Respect the senior.”

Daryapur gets the gift of a new judicial building
This judicial building is a big gift for Daryapur and Anjangaon area. This new building, built at a cost of Rs 28.54 crore, will now hear both civil and criminal cases. Along with the judges, administrative and police officers of the district, members of the Advocates’ Association and a large number of common citizens were present at the inauguration program.

CJI Gavai’s direct message: ‘If you get a post, learn to bow down, not to be arrogant’
During his entire speech, Bhushan Gavai’s emphasis was on the fact that no matter which chair it is – be it of the District Magistrate, Superintendent of Police or Judge, it is only and only a medium of public service. He said bluntly, “If the chair enters the head, the value of justice will be lost. This chair is of respect, do not insult it with arrogance.”
