New Delhi: An encounter is going on between the Indian Army and terrorists in the Dul area of Kishtwar in Jammu and Kashmir since Sunday morning. The Army’s White Knight Corps said that this operation was launched on the basis of intelligence input. In the initial hours itself, the army came face to face with the terrorists and firing started. If sources are to be believed, 2 to 3 Pakistani terrorists are suspected to be hiding in the area.
This encounter is taking place at a time when the security forces are engaged in Operation Akhal going on in the Kashmir Valley, which is one of the longest anti-terror operations till date. Lance Naik Pritpal Singh and Sepoy Harminder Singh were martyred in the firing on Friday night. So far 10 soldiers have been injured in this operation.
Operation Akhal started on August 1, when strong inputs were received about the presence of terrorists in the forests of Akhal area of South Kashmir. During this period, more than 5 terrorists have been killed so far.
The pace of anti-terror operations in Jammu and Kashmir has increased
The Kishtwar encounter is another incident in the series of recent clashes in Jammu and Kashmir. Security forces have increased the pace of anti-terror operations since the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22. In that attack, Pakistan-based terrorists killed 26 civilians, most of whom were tourists.
20 major terrorists were eliminated
Operation Akhal has been started after Operation Mahadev, in which security forces killed Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists responsible for the Pahalgam attack in Dachigam area of Srinagar.
A day after this, on July 29, the army carried out Operation Shiv Shakti and killed 2 more terrorists. Since April 22, the security forces have targeted and eliminated about 20 major terrorists. Security agencies say that these operations will continue until all terrorist threats are completely eliminated.
