Woman murdered after gangrape, body thrown in sack, skeleton found after 24 days

Korba: In Korba district of Chhattisgarh, a woman was first gangraped while getting ration and later she was murdered. After committing this crime, the accused threw the body in a sack in the drain. Police have arrested the woman’s boyfriend and his friend in this case, one accused is still absconding. The woman had a love affair with the accused. Based on the identification of the accused, the skeleton of the woman has been recovered after 24 days.

According to the information, the 35-year-old woman had an affair with Umendra Prasad Binjhiya of the village. On July 28, the woman left the society to get ration items from home, but did not return. The family searched a lot, but nothing could be found. On August 1, the family reached the police station and lodged a complaint. The police registered a missing person case and started investigation.

In the initial investigation, the police did not find anything special. But when it was learnt that the woman was last seen with Umendra, the matter seemed suspicious. The police took Umendra Prasad Binjhiya of the village into custody and strictly questioned him, who confessed his crime. He told the police that he had killed the woman by strangulation.

Umendra told that the victim had contacted him to deliver ration items to her house. The accused went to pick up the woman with his friend Santram. Both of them took the woman to the forest near the village, where the third companion Gulab Singh was already present. The three gang-raped the woman in the forest. When the victim said that she would complain about it, the accused strangled her to death. After the murder, the body was stuffed in a sack and thrown in the drain.

The crime scene was searched on the directions of the accused. The body had completely decomposed. The police have also recovered the towel and bike used in the murder. The deceased was identified on the basis of her clothes and jewellery. Forensic experts and the scene of crime unit team have also investigated the incident spot. At present, one accused is absconding and is being searched for.
