‘Congress stands with the rioters’, BJP furious after Kharge demands ban on RSS

Desk: Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said on Saturday that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh should be banned again because it is responsible for most of the law and order disturbances in the country. He also said that these are his personal views.

Responding to a question related to a statement made by Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav, he said, “It is my personal opinion that the RSS should be banned.” The Congress president also claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is an expert at turning lies into truth. He said that Patel had banned the RSS to protect India’s secular and democratic character.

Kharge said, “You blame the Congress for everything, so look at your own actions as well. No matter how much you try to erase the truth, it will not be erased. The Prime Minister and the BJP always try to show a conflict between Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of independent India, and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the country’s first Home Minister, whereas Nehru and Patel had a very good relationship, and Patel had called Nehru a leader of the people.”

He said, “I want to tell the BJP not to look for flaws where there are none. Everyone knows your history. It was Nehru who first unveiled Patel’s statue in Gujarat and laid the foundation stone of the Sardar Sarovar Dam.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Friday that Sardar Patel wanted to integrate the whole of Kashmir into India, just like other princely states, but the then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru did not allow it.

Addressing the gathering after the National Unity Day parade near the ‘Statue of Unity’ in Gujarat’s Ekta Nagar, Modi said, “Sardar Patel believed that one should not waste time writing history, but should work hard to make history.”

Modi said, “Sardar Patel wanted to integrate the whole of Kashmir as he did with other princely states. But Nehru ji did not allow his wish to be fulfilled. Kashmir was divided, it was given a separate constitution and a separate flag, and the country had to suffer the consequences of this mistake of the Congress for decades.”

Retaliating against Mallikarjun Kharge’s statement, the BJP accused the Congress of ignoring Sardar Patel for more than 50 years and downplaying his contributions. BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla said that the Congress never followed in Patel’s footsteps and is now using his name to oppose the RSS.

He said, “The Congress, the Indian National Congress…” It’s not the Congress party. It means the Indian Nazi Congress. Despite all their conspiracies, the court lifted the ban on the RSS. The RSS is a non-political organization, and government employees can participate in its activities. The Congress is so intolerant that they stand with the rioters of PFI, SDPI, and MIM, but spew venom against the RSS, which is working for the welfare of the country.”
