New Delhi. The NIA (National Investigation Agency) has achieved a major breakthrough in the case of the car bomb blasts in Delhi’s Red Fort area. The agency has arrested the person who, along with the suicide bomber, carried out this terrorist plot.
The arrested accused is Aamir Rashid Ali. The car used in the blast was registered in his name. The NIA arrested him from Delhi. The Delhi Police was initially investigating the blast, but the case was later handed over to the NIA. After taking over the case, the NIA launched a massive search operation, and Aamir was arrested during that operation.
The investigation revealed that Aamir is a resident of Sambura, Pampore, Jammu and Kashmir. He planned the attack with a man named Umar Un Nabi from Pulwama. Amir came to Delhi to help purchase the car that was later used as an IED (bomb-making device) for the blast.
It is noteworthy that Amir was detained on November 11th. However, after extensive interrogation, his role was established and he was arrested on Sunday.
Through forensic investigation, the NIA has identified the driver who was in the car at the time of the blast. He has been identified as Umar Un Nabi. Umar was a resident of Pulwama and an assistant professor in the Department of General Medicine at Al-Falah University in Faridabad, Haryana. This means that the doctor himself was involved in the terrorist plot.
Other Vehicles Seized, Investigation Continues
The NIA has also seized another vehicle belonging to Umar Un Nabi. This vehicle is now being examined to gather further evidence. So far, the agency has interviewed 73 witnesses, including those injured in the blast. The blast, which occurred in Delhi on November 10, shook the entire nation.
A press release issued by the NIA states that 10 people died in the attack. However, officials had previously stated that 13 people were killed in the blast.
Coordination with Police from Multiple States
The NIA is investigating the case in collaboration with the Delhi Police, Jammu and Kashmir Police, Haryana Police, Uttar Pradesh Police, and other agencies. The investigating agency is now trying to determine the individuals and organizations involved in the blast and the scale of their conspiracy. The case is registered under case number RC-21/2025/NIA/DLI, and the investigation has now spread from state to state.
20 Doctors Questioned, Only Four Main Accused Arrested
The investigation into the Delhi blast is expanding the scope of security agencies, and no official figures have been released yet. But according to sources, more than 20 doctors have been questioned so far, and most have been released.
Similarly, the Jammu and Kashmir Police detained nearly 200 people for questioning based on suspicious activities, but many of them were later released. Agencies say the investigation is in its initial stages, so most actions are being taken based on suspicion.
According to sources, no one has been arrested based on concrete evidence so far, except for the main accused against whom prima facie evidence exists. These include Dr. Adil, Dr. Mujhmil, Dr. Shaheen, and Maulvi Irfan.
These four have been formally arrested as key figures in the case. The others are being detained solely for questioning and to confirm suspicious activities.
Investigative agencies say the entire module was highly organized and technically savvy, so the investigation is being carried out at multiple levels. At present, the agencies are avoiding giving any official statement regarding any information because the investigation is still in its initial stage.
What happened on Sunday in the Delhi bombing investigation?
Several important developments were reported on Sunday in the case of the blast near the Red Fort in Delhi. First, the Red Fort Metro Station, which was closed for security reasons after the blast, was reopened. All gates of the station are now open to the public. The white curtain placed in front of the Red Fort has also been removed, signaling the return of normal activity in the area.
Meanwhile, security agencies continued their investigation at Al Falah University. Continuous raids were conducted there in search of crucial clues related to the main accused in the blast, Dr. Umar Nabi, and his network. During the day-long operation, the police arrested two suspects believed to be close to Umar Nabi.
Another major revelation came from the investigation: 9mm cartridges recovered from the blast site were found to be of a limited grade. Forensic and intelligence teams are working together to determine the source of these cartridges and how they reached there. Agencies are investigating multiple angles to understand the explosives used in the blast and their network.
The entire investigation is now also focusing on several key suspects and possible foreign connections. Security agencies say this module appears to be highly organized and technically capable, so every clue is being carefully investigated.
What other updates have there been in the case so far?
Recently, three 9mm-caliber cartridges were recovered from the scene, including two live cartridges and one empty cartridge. These cartridges are prohibited for civilian use, but no weapon remains have been found at the scene so far. Therefore, investigating agencies are trying to determine how these cartridges reached there.
During the investigation, several important pieces of evidence were also found at Al Falah University. It was here that accused Umar parked his car for some time, and explosive material was also recovered.
According to investigating agencies, Umar and his associates operated a “white-collar” terrorist module, which included individuals from the medical field.
