The Sanchar Sathi app doesn’t spy; you can delete it if you wish… Now Jyotiraditya Scindia has clarified.

December 02, 2025

New Delhi: Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has cleared up misconceptions surrounding the Sanchar Sathi app. He stated that the app doesn’t spy or monitor your calls.

Scindia stated that the app is completely voluntary. “If you want to activate it, do so; if you don’t, don’t. If you want to keep it on your phone, keep it; if you don’t want to, delete it.” He clearly stated that deleting the app is entirely your choice. It’s not a mandatory app. According to Scindia, the sole purpose of this app is to protect people from digital fraud. The government is trying to ensure that this app reaches as many people as possible so that they remain safe and don’t fall prey to fraud.

The Department of Telecommunications recently directed mobile companies to pre-install the Sanchar Sathi app in new handsets. The app must be visible, running, and fully accessible to the user during phone setup. The government says this step is necessary to prevent telecom fraud and identify the authenticity of the mobile phone.
