Washington: On the orders of US President Donald Trump, the US Army has attacked Venezuela and arrested its president. He is being brought to New York to face trial under US law. While many are praising Trump’s decision, many others have called it a blatant violation of international law. Indian-American Congressman Ro Khanna, a Democrat, has also criticized Trump’s move. He called Trump’s decision a provocation for war and urged American citizens to stand against it.
Khanna strongly criticized Trump, saying that he has betrayed even his MAGA supporters today. On the social media site X, Khanna wrote, “Donald Trump betrayed his MAGA supporters today by unilaterally starting a war for regime change in Venezuela. We keep voting against the absurd wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Libya. But our president bows to a faction of foreign policy elites dedicated to militarism. They entangle us in conflicts abroad while ignoring the lack of good jobs and rising inflation for Americans at home.”
Khanna also held up a mirror to Trump regarding Xi Jinping’s campaign against Taiwan and Putin’s campaign against Ukraine. He asked what the US would do if those countries did something similar. He wrote, “What if Xi Jinping wanted to seize Lai in Taiwan or Putin tried to enter Ukraine and seize Zelenskyy? The time has come for the American people to unite against the massive spending on the defense budget and the policies that provoke war. We need politicians who will heed the advice of Washington and our founders and invest in jobs, healthcare, childcare, and education for our people.”
