ED Raids Premises of AAP MP Ashok Mittal; Appointed Deputy Leader Replacing Raghav Chadha

New Delhi: On Wednesday, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted raids at 8 to 9 premises located across Gurugram, Jalandhar, and Punjab belonging to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP and Lovely Professional University (LPU) Chancellor, Ashok Mittal. It is reported that this operation is being carried out in connection with an investigation into suspected financial irregularities and money laundering linked to the university’s funds. The Aam Aadmi Party has termed this action an act of political vendetta.

According to reports, the investigative agency also raided several premises belonging to the MP’s son on Wednesday morning, as he is involved in various business activities. Agency teams are currently scouring these locations for crucial documents and digital evidence.

It is understood that the ED’s action is being conducted as part of an investigation into alleged financial irregularities concerning the university’s funds. According to sources, the ED is investigating complaints regarding financial transactions linked to the university and the alleged misappropriation of funds. The agency is attempting to ascertain whether any investments or donations involved violations of foreign exchange laws.

‘Election Preparations Begin in Punjab’
AAP Convener Arvind Kejriwal has characterized this ED action as the BJP’s election preparations for Punjab. Attacking the Central Government, Kejriwal stated, “Modi ji has begun his election preparations in Punjab, but the people of Punjab will not tolerate this. They will give a befitting reply to the BJP.”

‘BJP Will Face a Crushing Defeat in Punjab’
Similarly, AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh took aim at the BJP-led Central Government. On ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), he remarked, “Wherever elections are held, the BJP dispatches its agencies there first. The ED raids on the residence of AAP’s Deputy Leader in the Rajya Sabha—Ashok Mittal—ahead of the Punjab elections mark the beginning of this pattern. This game will yield no results; the BJP is destined to suffer a crushing defeat in Punjab.”

The Aam Aadmi Party has issued a sharp reaction to this ED action. The party noted that Ashok Mittal had recently been appointed as the AAP’s new Deputy Leader in the Rajya Sabha, having succeeded Raghav Chadha in this position. ‘AAP’ has termed the raids as political vendetta. However, ED sources state that this action was taken based on concrete inputs and evidence of financial irregularities.
