14 Key Conditions of the US-Iran Deal: From Releasing Iranian Funds and Lifting Oil Bans to Reopening the Strait of Hormuz

June 15, 2026

New Delhi. US President Donald Trump has announced that a significant agreement between the US and Iran will be signed on Sunday. He claimed that this deal would pave the way for the immediate reopening of the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz and bring about a fundamental shift in diplomatic relations between the two long-standing adversaries.

  • In a statement released via social media, Donald Trump drew a sharp contrast between this upcoming agreement and the previous deal struck during former President Barack Obama’s tenure.

Trump emphasized that, unlike the framework established under his predecessor, the agreement resulting from these new negotiations would strictly ensure that Iran remains completely barred from developing nuclear weapons. Iran’s Mehr News Agency has claimed that the agreement between the two nations is based on specific conditions.

14 Conditions of the Proposed US-Iran Agreement

Sanctions on Iran’s oil, petrochemicals, and related exports will be lifted.
Iran will regain full access to its financial resources.
$24 billion of Iran’s frozen assets will be released during the 60-day negotiation period; of this, $12 billion will be released before negotiations even begin.
The US and its allies will have to present plans worth approximately $300 billion for Iran’s reconstruction.
Hostilities on all fronts, including Lebanon, will cease immediately and permanently.
The US will pledge not to interfere in Iran’s affairs and to respect Iran’s sovereignty.
The naval blockade imposed by the US will be completely lifted within 30 days.
US forces will withdraw from areas surrounding Iran.
The Strait of Hormuz will be reopened within 30 days under Iranian administration. A 60-day negotiation period will commence to reach a final agreement regarding nuclear issues and the complete lifting of sanctions.
Iran will reaffirm its commitment under the NPT (Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty) not to develop nuclear weapons.
During the negotiations, the US will agree not to increase its military presence in the region or impose new sanctions.
A monitoring mechanism will oversee implementation, and any final agreement will be endorsed by a UN Security Council resolution.
Iran’s missile program and its support for resistance groups are not part of this agreement.
According to reports, the final round of negotiations will not begin until $12 billion is released, oil sanctions are lifted, and the blockade is ended.
