New Delhi: Actor Balwinder Singh Suri, who makes audiences laugh as ‘Roshan Singh Sodhi’ in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, is currently in the spotlight for a different reason. Known on TV for his jovial and carefree persona, Balwinder is not just an actor but also an accomplished writer and producer. Now, another milestone has been added to his list of achievements: he is credited with playing a key role in writing the story for the upcoming comedy film Dhamaal 4, set to release on July 10.
Journey Began with a Shah Rukh Khan Film
Few people realize that Balwinder Singh Suri’s Bollywood journey dates back nearly 27 years. He launched his career with the 1997 superhit film Dil To Pagal Hai, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit, and Karisma Kapoor. Later, he also worked alongside Shah Rukh Khan in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. Balwinder himself mentioned in an interview that Shah Rukh still refers to him by the nickname ‘Ballu’.
Not Just an Actor, but a Creative Force Behind ‘Dhamaal’
While Balwinder Singh Suri is best known today for the character of ‘Sodhi’, he has also made significant contributions to comedy writing. He was involved in writing the original Dhamaal film, released in 2007. Additionally, he penned the story for the Bhojpuri film Chhodab Na Sang Tohar. He has remained active in the industry across all three roles: writer, actor, and producer.
‘Taarak Mehta…’ Made Him a Household Name
Balwinder Singh Suri initially worked with the creative team of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. Later, he was given the opportunity to play the character of Roshan Singh Sodhi and quickly became a viewer favorite. His energy, Punjabi style, and impeccable comic timing made him a household name.
‘Dhamaal 4’ to Release on July 10
